Dec. 1st, 2015: Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is an extremely tactical online Ego-Shooter, developed and published by Ubisoft. September this year the game has reached a total of 50 000 000 active players.
How the game works:
There are the attackers and the defenders in every match whereby each team consists of 5 people. There are three game modes: secure area, bomb, and hostage. On the beginning of each round every player can choose from roughly 30 operators per team; each individual has his or her own special ability. After that, both teams get 40 seconds to prepare for the actual „Action-Phase“. The attackers try to locate the objective while the defenders can barricade doors and windows, reinforce walls and hatches and use their special skill. The „Action-Phase“ lasts 3 minutes and then it goes on with the next round until a team has 3 points.
Mechanics:
Like in every other first-person shooter you can walk, run and jump. But the movement in „R6“ is way more advanced: You can crouch, walk slowly, lay down and rappel up or down the walls. But the actual key element in Rainbow Six Siege is the option to break walls, floors and ceilings. It makes the whole game much more interesting and more individual.
Graphics:
The entire game is in a hyperrealistic theme, the colors are to some extent kind of somber. The 3D-Models are brilliant as well.
Conclusion / Own Opinion:
I guess you can tell by my play time that I think it’s an awesome game and I don’t believe I’ll stop playing it in the next few weeks. The gameplay, the maps, as well as the graphics are just pleasing and I think we’re talking about a masterpiece of a game.
My score: 9.5 / 10
